A little bit about us
We are an international social club for newcomers and long-timers in Oslo, Norway. The purpose of the club is to promote international friendship as well as offer advice and support for living in Oslo and its surroundings. We offer a variety of organized activities and raise funds for local and international charities.
ICON’s membership is made up of many nationalities including French, British, Indian, Swedish, Norwegian, Malaysian, Belgian, American, Brazilian, Singaporean, Dutch, Vietnamese, Danish, Irish, Australian, Finnish, Italian, Canadian, Chinese... we currently have almost 30 countries represented and we welcome more!
Every month between September and June, we hold a meeting to catch up with old friends and to greet new members over a cup of coffee or tea and some snacks. Our meetings take a variety of forms: formal talks, social gatherings and fun events. Topics are varied and have included information about life in Norway, coping with culture shock, information from various countries' embassies, skiing, and talks from local experts. We also have raffles and donate the proceeds to various designated charities. There is something for everyone at an ICON meeting!
A range of activities are organised through the club, including skiing, walking, Mah-Jong, book club, and knitting. ICON arranges trips to museums and other places of interest in and around Oslo. Special events take place throughout the year, including Christmas Holiday and June Lunches. We meet monthly for coffee at a local coffee shop. Evening events include potlucks with partners, and fjord boat tours.
